Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of ClearMint Essentials (the "Service") — our browser-based personal finance web app at clearmintessentials.com / clearmintessentials.app. By using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. The Service
ClearMint Essentials is a personal-finance tracking tool delivered as a web application. It helps you record, import and organize your own financial information. It is not a bank, broker, insurer, tax preparer or financial advisor. Outputs — including imports, projections, reports and AI-generated text — may contain errors. Always verify against your official statements and qualified professionals before acting.
Some features (including bank linking, household sharing, AI tools and parts of the Product Hub) are offered on a beta or early-access basis and may change, be limited or be withdrawn without notice.
2. Eligibility & accounts
You must be the age of majority in your jurisdiction to create an account. You're responsible for your account, your password, and all activity under it. Keep your credentials secure. You may use the Service without an account (local-only mode); cloud sync, Plaid, AI and household features require signing in.
3. Acceptable use
- Only upload or connect data you're authorized to access.
- Don't misuse, disrupt, reverse-engineer or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service.
- Don't use the Service to break the law.
- When inviting household members, ensure they are people you trust with shared financial information.
4. Bank connections (Plaid)
Optional bank linking is provided through Plaid. By connecting an account you also agree to Plaid's applicable terms and privacy policy. We receive read-only account and transaction data you authorize. We do not guarantee every institution will connect successfully or remain available.
5. Plans & billing
Paid plans are billed through Stripe on a recurring basis until cancelled. Free trials convert to paid unless cancelled before they end. You can cancel anytime and will retain access through the end of the current billing period. Prices are shown in CAD unless stated otherwise. Refunds are handled at our discretion except where required by law.
6. AI features
The Service includes optional AI features (assistant, categorization suggestions, vendor matching and related tools). When you use them, relevant portions of your data — as described in our Privacy Policy — are sent to third-party AI providers to generate a response or suggestion.
AI outputs are generated automatically, are provided for convenience only, and may be incomplete, outdated or wrong. They are not financial, tax, accounting, legal or investment advice, and you should not rely on them for decisions that could affect your finances, taxes or investments. Predictions and summaries are estimates, not guarantees.
7. Estimates & reports
Cash-flow projections, insurance overviews parsed from documents, renewal reminders and any built-in premium or value estimates are illustrative only. They are not binding quotes, appraisals or offers of insurance. For insurance, tax or major financial decisions, consult licensed professionals and official documents.
8. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data import, bank sync, parsing or AI-generated answers will be accurate or complete.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ClearMint Essentials will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or revenue, arising from your use of the Service — including reliance on AI outputs, import errors or bank-sync delays.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. You can export your data from Settings and request account deletion as described on our Data Deletion page. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms; the "last updated" date will change and continued use means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
